From the name of Bamboo Charcoal, it is easy to know that the material is made from bamboo. Bamboo is botanically categorized as a grass and not and a tree, bamboo might be the world’s most sustainable resource. It is the fastest growing grass and can shoot up a yard or more a day. Bamboo reaches maturity quickly and is ready for harvesting in about 4 years. Bamboo does not require replanting after harvesting because its vast root network continually sprouts new shoots, pulling in sunlight and greenhouse gases and converting them to new green growth. Growing bamboo does not need fertilizers, nutrients or pesticides; it can be considered a very sustainable industry. Bamboo plantations are large factories for photosynthesis, which reduces green house gases. Bamboo plants absorb about 5 times the amount of carbon dioxide and produce about 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees. We can say that the planting of bamboo is good for environmental protection of the earth and helps to slow down green house effects.
Bamboo Charcoal Fabric
The Bamboo Charcoal Fabric is an eco-fabric that is made from yarn embedded with nano-particles of bamboo charcoal. The manufacturing process is as below:
1) 4 to 5 year old Taiwanese-grown bamboo that has dried and burned in 800 degree C ovens until it is reduced to charcoal.
2) The charcoal is then ground and filtered into nano-particles.
3) The nano-particles of bamboo charcoal are doped into the fibres manufactured in a closed loop process.
4) The fibre are then spun into yarn. This conventional fibre yarn that contains trapped bamboo charcoal nano-particles is then knitted into fabrics.
Pure cotton has been the natural material of choice for professional sports people, busy business professionals, and particularly comfort conscious people for generations. But what if there was a material which rested even more gently against your skin?
While synthetic materials are constantly under development which promise just such better comfort, nature itself has recently presented textilists with a truly revolutionary new material. We’re talking, of course about Bamboo. The only question is, why is bamboo clothing really so revolutionary?
Almost everyone is aware of bamboo, thanks to everyone’s favorite Far Eastern bear species. However, in recent years, bamboo has been heralded as much more than just the world’s fastest growing (and according to the average Panda) delectable grass species. This is because charcoal derived from bamboo plants harbors a wide variety of far-reaching benefits, particularly when fibers themselves are spun into yarn.
Silky to the touch, bamboo clothing is lighter, naturally non-irritating, and boasts a distinctly luxurious skin feel. This is because bamboo fibers are naturally rounded and porous. This in itself allows for far better comfort, moisture control, and breathability than wearers will find with any other natural or synthetic fabric.
Synthetic material specialists and fabricators hate bamboo clothing. This is because bamboo clothing simply performs better at every possible benchmark
From the professional corporate person, to the serious sports men and women, the opportunity and advantages to wear a naturally sourced clothing material are not only unique, but also very beneficial. Why? – Consider the following the next time you decide on choosing apparel products with a point of difference you desire:
VERSATILTY, not only is bamboo sustainable, bamboo apparel offers unique anti-irritant and anti-microbial qualities. As bamboo is naturally antibacterial, odour and irritability no longer are an ongoing issue that many other fabrics can be. And the best part, the comfort from the breathability and the insulation properties bamboo offers the wearer an experience worth talking about.
HEALTH & WELLNESS FEATURES, not only is bamboo better at odour control and moisture absorption, bamboo is also proven to absorb infrared radiation better than other natural and synthetic fabrics. The major benefit is better circulation, and possible energy boosts to the wearer of the fabric.
THE ENVIRONMENT, as being one the world’s fastest growing grass variety’s, bamboo harvesting is an excellent option to extract CO2 from the worlds atmosphere, offering great benefits now and to generations to come.
Of course, with bamboo needing to be first harvested and transformed into charcoal, some might assume that the benefits of bamboo clothing come at a hefty price to the environment. Thankfully, this simply isn’t the case. Bamboo requires no artificial irrigation to grow, uses just 10% of the same land area as cotton when it comes to cultivation, and is naturally pest resistant. This being the case, bamboo clothing is just as smart a choice when it comes to sustainability, as it is people’s personal comfort and style consciousness.
